DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards, refill restroom dispensers.
  • Clean whiteboards and erasers; dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers; empty and clean ashtrays and cigarette urns; replace light bulbs.
  • Set-up and take down equipment, such as whiteboards and easels, and furnishings, such as folding chairs and tables needed for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events
  • Strip, clean, buff and apply finish to floors; use high-speed floor buffers/polishers; vacuum and clean carpets.
  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee, and scrubber, etc.
  • Be able to do work above 10 feet with tall ladders for the cleaning and general maintenance of light bulb replacement and window washing.
  • Secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants.
  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding assigned duties, plus the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures in emergencies such as fire or medical.
  • Report the need for repair and/or maintenance of equipment or the facility.
  • May move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools.
  • May operate University vehicles as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.

    MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS
  • Physical ability to do required work.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
  • Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.

    DESIRED REQUIRMENTS
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent certified education level.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • This position is designated as one that performs an essential function.
  • This means that the position’s incumbent must continue to report to work as directed in the event that the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency conditions.
  • Must be able to clean & disinfect with various cleaners, chemicals, disinfectants, and cleaning cloths.
  • Must be able to walk constantly.
  • Ability to secure valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certificate within six months of hire.

    Custodian – Days. Monday-Friday: 10a-630p Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters; 830a-5p Summer Quarter
