The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Center (PRRC) is an outpatient service within Mental Health Service that provides mental health programming and services for Veterans based on the psychiatric rehabilitation recovery model. These services include: 1) a wide range of rehabilitation and recovery services for Veterans with serious mental illness (SM1); 2) collaboration and advocacy for Veterans with SMI and their family members; and 3) education and training of staff, in conjunction with other VA professionals, to promote the transition from maintenance models of treatment to the contempo! rary recovery rehabilitation model.
The PRRC Director provides leadership, coordination, oversight, and integration to ensure for the smooth and effective provision of recovery and rehabilitation services and helps guide the process towards CARF accreditation. S/he also serves as a major advocate and consultant for the psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model to the Chief of Mental Health, the VAMC Mental Health Service providers, executive management, Veterans and their families, and the community served by the VASLCHCS. The PRRC Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the Alliance House (the contract clubhouse in Downtown Salt Lake City) and its one FTEE, is the liaison between the Alliance House and the SLCVA Medical Center, and provides programmatic coordination for the elements contained at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Possibility of working some evening hours on weekend! or weekdays.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:BASIC REQUIREM! ENTS:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Residency training in general internal medicine.
c. Licensure and Registration. Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice Psychiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Must be board-certified or board eligible in Psychiatry. If board-eligible, must become board certified within one year of being hired.
d. English Language Proficiency. Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
e. Physica! l Standards. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Physical Requirements: Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies. Applicants must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the applicant or others. Position requires walking throughout the clinic and the Medical Center, standing for extended periods of time, and involves sitting at a computer and in counsel and consultation with Veterans and interdisciplinary tea! ms. Position also requires traveling into the community to meet with community agencies and partners who provide assistance and support to the PRRC and its Veterans. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
