Looking for opportunities to influence at scale and lead strategy for store operations across the US business? This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading “always-on” strategy for store operations as well as select strategic initiatives impacting the heart of our retail business, in partnership with cross-functional teams from across the North America business.This partner will collaborate across the store operations team as well as the enterprise to lead strategy and business operations, designed to drive our retail store experience, while working closely with business and functional areas to ensure the best possible solutions for our stores and our partners – all laddering into our enterprise vision and supporting our 3 P’s – people, planet, and profit positive. This partner must be deeply committed to Starbucks mission and values as well as ways of working, leading in accordance with Starbucks’ guiding principles.
As a director, strategy, you will…
- Models leadership behaviors that are grounded in Starbucks Mission and Values
- Drives the engagement, development and performance of all members of their team
- Identifies problems that need to be solved and creates a case for change
- Ability to influence broadly up, down and across the enterprise to mobilize partners to support strategic deliverables in balance with their day to day priorities
- Leads strategy spanning multiple business units and functions
- Ensures that stakeholders are informed and engaged and is accountable for all stakeholder engagement activities and communication delivery
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports, if applicable, and promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
- Leads and influences across functions, regions and cultures. Works closely with functional, regional and program leadership to align the organization for successful deployment of large-scale initiatives.
- Ability to function effectively in a highly ambiguous environment with the flexibility to change course as required to respond to new situations
- Lead the development of long-term visions for key strategic areas of focus, develop winning strategies and define clear roadmaps to bring these to life, in partnership with senior leaders from across the enterprise
- Ensure that strategies for key enterprise priorities are translated into actionable plans for delivery
- Lead strategic analysis and deep dives to understand internal/external environment changes, and to develop recommendations on specific ad-hoc strategic questions
- Connect strategy work with operational plans, supporting day-to-day business operations needs
- Lead the preparation of various executive level strategic presentations
- Ability to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional settings.
- Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities
- Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results
- Conducts quarterly performance and development conversations
- Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
- Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Education (minimum education level, degree or certification necessary): bachelor’s degree
- Advanced experience with core technology tools like Microsoft office, & virtual collaboration tools
- Years of experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills (minimum needed to be qualified): 10 years
- Working across organizational boundaries at all levels, including executive positions: 5 years
- Manage large teams both reporting direct or indirect
